Membership Expectations


Mission Statement: Explorer Post 911 is a program run by the Greenwich Medical Service designed for high school students ages 14 to 18. The Post’s six core principles; Community, Education, Peer Mentoring, Service, Experience, and Leadership. The mission of the program is to empower each member to achieve their goals while doing so in a fun and structured peer environment. Members have the opportunity to become certified as an EMS provider and practice medicine in real life emergencies.

  1. Attendance at 75% of all monthly meetings.

  2. Attendance at 50% of all Explorer Post events.

  3. Abide by the rules and regulations of GEMS and Explorer Post 911.

  4. Maintain certification (EMR, CPR, EMT, etc.) and recertify when necessary.

  5. Abide by the rules of and regulations of GEMS and Explorer Post 911.

  6. Contribution of ideas and suggestions.

  7. Help promote and recruit membership for Post 911.


In addition to the above expectation, Post 911 also expects you to abide by the following during any Post activity.

  1. Expected to arrive on time at the determined location

  2. Expected to be neat in appearance and in full uniform [ uniform not required for weekly meetings ]

  3. Expected to have a positive attitude and demeanor.

  4. Expected to perform professionally under both real and mock situations.

  5. Behave in a mature manner. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

  6. Show a willingness to perform duties as required.
